Haven’t had a chance to bake but two portions of bread since receiving my order. It is wonderful! After returning from Europe I needed more good bread then I found Brot Box. The rye is truly legit German/Austrian rye. We loved it. All the breads were fantastic. Not inexpensive, but well worth the quality. Rolls can easily be divided and half frozen.

I didn't want to heat up my oven to 410° each time or wait to defrost the bread. I'm also not a big fan of the rye loaf bread. The rolls were good and the pretzels too. The wheat/seeded rye loaf was pretty good. Haven't tried the rest yet. Keeping bread frozen until use is just not for me but I wanted to try it out and see.

I don’t remember the name of the loaf (it’s the round one), but after being baked with per the directions, we could hardly cut the bread into slices. The inside was delicious, and the four small seeded brochen were also delicious and came out perfectly. We will try some of the other items out this weekend.

My husband's family comes from Germany, and we have visited many times, and always loved the bread products. There are very few options where we live for good European bread. Finding this website has been so wonderful. We received our first box last week and could not wait to bake one of the loaves. It smelled lovely while baking and produced the most beautiful loaf of malty dark bread. We have used it for toast, for sandwiches or just to eat with a bit of nice cheese and some ham. The box arrived in good shape. The dry ice was already gone and the items had thawed. I quickly put them in the freezer.
So far I've made two of the items received. They turned out well and tasted very good. They did taste like the rolls I often ate when visiting Germany.
I still have some breads and rolls to bake. If they turn out as nice, I will be ordering more in the future.

The rolls were not as good as rolls we got in Germany from bakeries - much dryer.
We followed the baking instructions - it seems we have to shorten the baking time. The bottom of the rolls got very dark and dry.

I can't eat wheat from the US but have found when travelling that European wheat doesn't hurt my stomach. Most American markets sell pastas and crackers etc from Italy, but I just couldn't find a fresh bread solution - until now!!

We are Germans from Heidelberg and we cannot tolerate American breads (which is not bread anyway and full of preservatives). So my mother was ecstatic when I found your company. I immediately ordered 10 loaves of country style bread (I did order the mix box first) and now we will never run out ( we have a big freezer lol). As long as your company doesn’t change the ingredients or substitute for other things, then we are staying loyal.
The first loaf I baked was over cooked and the crust broke off, so there was a learning curve between my oven and bread. Because the loaves are so big, it is a bit challenging for my mom to cut it, so I do it for her. I am looking for a traditional manual Brot machine. (Maybe your company should offer that)

So far we have had a pumpkin seed roll, and it was delicious. The reason for 4 stars, is they all came in totally thawed, the cooling system failed vs time spent in delivery. We put it in the freezer to refreeze, hopefully it will be okay. It was quite a bit of bread I ordered, and couldn't eat it all at once.

I was stationed in Germany when I was in the Army. One day I was standing in line in a Bakerei near my Kasern. There was a guy in line ahead of me. He was older so I was pretty sure he wasn't a GI, but he was wearing a Dallas Cowboys stocking cap. I asked him if he was an American tourist. He said no, but that he had lived with his daughter in Texas for several years. I asked him why he decided to return to Germany. He replied, "the bread." And he clicked his teeth to indicate that bread in the US was too soft and tasteless. At the time I didn't quite understand what he meant. Now that Brot Box has brought me back to my memories of Germany, I understand what he meant.
